Why Do I Need to Change My Oil?

Your engine is full of metal and a lot of fast-moving parts and explosions. Oil lubricates all these inner workings, reducing friction so these components don't just immediately grind away into nothing. Oil can also pick up dirt and other particulates, preventing those contaminants from harming the components of your engine.

Over time, the oil can't absorb any more dirt and grime. It loses its ability to lubricate and cool effectively. Your engine won't be working at peak condition, causing poor fuel mileage and deterioration of parts. Eventually, if you just never changed the oil, the engine would seize up and you'd be looking at some expensive options: replace the engine or get a new car.
