At Terry Henricks Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we've put together this side-by-side comparison of the two, and hope that it makes deciding between them easier for our customers in Defiance, Wauseon, and beyond.

The Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited

The Jeep Wrangler, and its big brother, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, are both perfect for wind-in-your-hair, top-down, summertime fun. That's because both Wrangler models are convertible, available with either a removable hard top or soft top roof.

The original Jeep Wrangler is perfect for smaller groups, as it has two doors and seats four people. The Wrangler Unlimited, meanwhile, has four doors and can accommodated up to five people.

The Jeep Renegade

The Jeep Renegade is the baby of the Jeep family, in more ways than one. Not only is it the smallest Jeep model available, it's also the newest one. The Renegade is small in size, but big on style. It has four doors and seats five people.

The Jeep Wrangler vs. the Jeep Renegade

Despite their similarities, the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Renegade typically appeal to two different kinds of car shopper in the Swanton and Delta area. Which one are you? Read on to discover the differences between them and decide for yourself.

  • Convertible. As mentioned, both versions of the Jeep Wrangler come with a convertible top. The Renegade, on the other hand, is not convertible. The smaller Jeep does have an optional series of removable roof panels, but it is a very different look and feel from a full-on convertible. Plus, this feature needs to be requested as a special add on.
  • Features. While the Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited can be outfitted with as many or as few features as you want, the Renegade comes equipped with a longer list of standard features. In fact, the base Jeep Renegade comes with keyless entry, push-button start, and full power accessories. The base model for the Jeep Wrangler doesn't even have power-operated windows and locks.
  • Passenger and cargo space. The Jeep Renegade is considered the subcompact crossover in the Jeep family. However, it measures larger than the two-door Jeep Wrangler in several areas. Not only does the Renegade seat five, compared to the Wrangler capacity of four, it also has much more storage space, accommodating six plus more cubic feet than the Wrangler. Of course, Wrangler customers have the option of spending more money and moving up to the Wrangler Unlimited. That will give them a comparable passenger seating area and much more cargo space than both the Renegade and the Wrangler.
  • Engines. There is only one engine available for the Jeep Wrangler models, while Renegade shoppers have a choice between two. However, the sole engine for the Jeep Wrangler is more powerful than both Renegade options. In fact, the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited both get a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 285 horsepower. The engine on the Renegade is dependent on trim level, but the options are either a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder with 160 horsepower, or a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 180 horsepower.
